The project team held discussions throughout the year with people who live, work and have an interest in the area about the masterplan for Wisloe, which we published in February.
Those who spoke with us about Wisloe will appreciate that it is still early days for the project. We have worked extensively to understand and respond to some of key points people have raised with us as proposals have progressed since 2019.
In 2022, our engagement included:
We'd like to thank everyone who has taken the time and effort to share their views with us.
Project team members at our street stall in Cam earlier this year.
Any decision about whether development at Wisloe can go ahead sits, quite rightly, with Stroud District Council as the local planning authority.
The council believes the district needs around 13,000 homes of all types between now and 2040. It is looking at where new homes could be provided to meet this need. Wisloe could play an important role in providing the homes the district needs. The council's draft Local Plan recommends Wisloe as a suitable site that can help it to achieve this.
The next stage of this is for a government inspector to examine Stroud District Council's draft Local Plan in public. We look forward to discussing the vision for Wisloe at that session. We will of course continue to update the public throughout this process.
